• I have downloaded a WordPress theme and added it to my /themes directory, but I don’t see it available to be used in my control panel! (It mentions that the themes that are currently there are in the /default directory ,but there is no /default directory in the directory list!

I’ve also clicked on the “update to 3.1.1” link and uploaded those files to the main directory, overwriting the existing ones (before I added the theme), but the Update notice is still showing!. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong!

  • For the upgrade, just do the automatic upgrade under Dashboard > Updates >> Upgrade Automatically.

Is your theme from the WP.org repository? If so, search for it and install it automatically via Appearance > Themes >> Install Themes.

Strange, my Dashboard doesn’t have an Updates, nor do I have an Appearances link …

    Definitely something seems wrong …

It seems like you may have done something wrong when you tried to re-install WP manually.

Try re-instaling WP manually again, this time following these instructions.
