Installing a wordpress blog on an existing site

I would suggest, make a backup copy of everything in root domain (incase you need it in future), delete all the files and try installing wordpress.

OR, you can straightaway install the wordpress and the installation will clear the files for you.

BUT, be safe, Do a back up ??

I need help. I am using Microsoft 7. I have a domain name, hosting with ChrisFarrellHosting and I developed a three page website using KomPoZer that I uploaded using Filezilla. So far so good. I downloaded WordPress from www.ads-software.com and updated to the latest version. I went to my Cpanel and used Fantastico Deluxe to install my WordPress template to my website. I used Filezilla to install all the WordPress files. I received an email from the hosting company (in fact, I’ve received two such emails for two different attempts) informing me that WordPress has been installed on my site. But when I go to my site, I see the page I originally uploaded to https://for-boomers.com/index.html instead of the WordPress theme. I’ve been working on this for several days and still get the same result. I even deleted the two previous installations in Fantastico in order to try again.

All the tutorials make it sound so easy to download and install WordPress but nobody ever says what to do if it doesn’t work. I’ve got so I’m even doing this in my sleep – it does not make for a restful night. Help!

finkel.for – You shouldn’t piggyback, especially since yours is a totally different error. It just confuses everyone more ??

(Hint #1 – You can’t have BOTH an index.php file and an index.html file in the same folder.

Hint #2 – Try installing WP in a SUBfolder. You can move it later.)
