• Hello,

I am a amateur web designer, aged 15, creating a website for a friend. He wants me to install wordpress, or another blogging system on the site. I understand HTML, CSS and some PHP, and I want to install the blog the HOMEPAGE of the site.

To make this clear, i don’t want the blog TO BE the homepage, i want the blog ON the homepage.

After a quick google search, i found a tutorial to do this. However, after copying and pasting ‘the loop’ code, and another line of code for the head section of the page, i uploaded it (the WP files were already there), and nothing happened. I got ‘Not Found’.

Please could somebody explain what I am doing wrong!

  • We need to have a URL to the site so we can help you troubleshoot it. Without having more details to see what you have done we can’t know where the error is.

Thankyou for your quick reply Tim. Although since I am only in the construction stages of creating the site, I have not, and cannot upload it properly (client’s request due to permissions)…

Could you go over any possible causes? Or describe how I should be doing it, instead of me following an online tutorial, which to be frank, I find very unclear.

I installed WordPress into a folder in the site root called ‘latest news’. Now I could like to add the posts from this blog to a page I have already created, containing the nav bar etc.

If there are any other detials you need about what I have already done, please let me me know ??

Here’s a link that basically walks you through the process of adding the WordPress Header to your webpages and then incorporating the “loop”

    I hope this helps!

Okay okay, so I’ve put that code into a .php file, and referenced the wp-header file…still got an error, what’s wrong?

Also, this whole theme thing? As someone who is not down with the wordpress lingo, after I manage to get my posts to appear, what’s a theme?

Themes are templates you use to change the look and feel of your WordPress website. AS for troubleshooting the error, it’s virtually impossible for any of us to help you without a URL so we can look at your code.
