    Aloha,

I tried using simple scripts to install to a directory which already contained html files, but it just kept referring me back to the index.html.

Is there a way to install wp in this type of directory so I may convert the index page to a blog?

    Rick

Yes install wordpress in a folder of its own then use it as link on your website.

So it has to be in it’s own folder? Crap, I’m number one on Google for the search term martial arts ebooks so I was hoping I could convert that directory to a blog

Convert = remove the existing site and replace with a blog… or do you just want to add a blog to the existing site?

I’d like to add the blog to kirkhamsebooks.com/MartialArts and make that the index page instead of the static html index page

You will need move the static page you have now out of folder and install wordpress in MartialArts folder set it all up and create your Home page add your static page content(looked at content and seems as if it is post page content) that you have now in that page and publish

For blog or post page (you can name it what ever you want) create blank page no content and publish

You can add any other pages you want like contact us and so on.

Now go to Settings Reading and select static pages
front page select Home from drop down
post page select the blank page you created.
    and save

Now when you want post any content in your blog page use post add new.

I have set of videos on my website to guide you through how set your wordpress up

    Thank you

By removing the page I assume you’re only speaking of the index.html and index.htm page (one redirects to the other)

If I was you I would just have my wordpess in the folder so that it does not conflict with any other files.

I believe that would have an affect on my google position
