    ?

Sorry if that didn’t make sense…hopefully, I can explain this correctly.

The hosting account has two folders /wp and /site

URL1.com points at the /site folder
URL2.com points at the /wp folder

URL1.com is the primary on the hosting account.

I setup wordpress using url2.com, so it set itself up in the /wp folder.

I’m not an expert myself, but had similar issues. To me it sounds that something with the redirection is not working correctly. Did you check it thoroughly?

For my understanding you would have to redirect (point) url2 to your webspace (=website resp. content of the website). If you have registered the domain at a different company you’ll have to do the redirect there and most likely you also need to add the nameserver of your webhosting provider.

Maybe it could help to name the provider you are using in case they are somehow special and someone else can give input on it?

Actually I think I got it just now, is it possible that you are having a similar problem which I had here?

So it touches point 3 and 4 of this WP guide?

    Thank you Knordelia for responding.

I know the url2.com’s nameservers are pointed correctly as I can access the first post of the blog using “url2.com/post1” and everything looks correct. However, when I just access “url2.com” it brings up “url1.com”.

I’m thinking it is something with the way wordpress built the .htaccess file when I installed wordpress, but I don’t know where to start and was hoping someone else has had the same problem.

Maybe you need to create a subdomain at your hosting provider url2.com?

More unfortunately does not come into my mind. :-/ You could also ask your hosting provider, when they have good support they could help you with this.

    Thanks again Knordelia.

I checked with my hosting provider and I had a redirect for index.htm in the base .htaccess file that was causing the issue. Moved the 301 redirect to the subfolder .htaccess file and all is well.
