Installing WP on my server

  • Hello, I’m very new to Word Press but I have successfully installed it on my server which supports it and also SQL. The question is. Can I install any of the many free or even purchased templates from other sites on my server?so far I have installed a few templates that my hosting server offers through their system but I don’t know how I would do the same with a template from a site that’s not affiliated. I did pose the same question to my hosting server and they simply referee me to this site for answers.

    Also, can I install WordPress on my computer and update to server as I do with Dreamweaver? Or maybe an FTP client?

    Assuming these are WordPress themes, yes.

    Yes. See Installing_WordPress_Locally

    Themes & template files, yes. Content, no.
