• I’m an old school print designer turned web designer who knows basic HTML & CSS. I use Dreamweaver and I’ve never worked in WP. I was to install WP and use one of the nice templates out there as a new freelance site. What I’m wondering is what will happen all my existing subdirectories and links once I install WP? Is there a certain directory I should do the installation in?

The subs and other links aren’t part of my main site, just things I’ve put online over the years.

  • Anything that’s not the default page (like index.html or index.php) will remain there. WordPress will make it’s own links though, so just make sure that you don’t double-up on those because the existing URL will take precidence over the WordPress-created one.
