  • I had PHP 5.3 installed and got a message that version 5.5 is required. The plugin menu wouldn’t even appear until I upgraded. May want to try that, though the latest version may have changed that requirement.

After I set up API and RSS Feed, Facebook Dashboard loaded around 20 articles.

Formatting was ok, but accents and another special characters broke.

Then I tried to update old permalinks in WordPress dashboard just to achieve 50 articles. But every single post I updated in WordPress was sent to Facebook without content. The same case of you, raulw.

My server is running PHP version 5.5.30 and MySQL version 5.5.48.

I’m very frustrated, but I also understand that bugs are expected now that Instant Articles become open for everybody. The plugin developer is doing a great job trying to help people stuck with issues like us.

    Hi guys,

    @thikoneres2016, thanks for understanding =)

We’re doing several releases to fix issues on the queue, please make sure you’ll have the latest version (currently 2.7).

The minimum requirement is PHP 5.4

@raulw can you open your article edit screen and share the debug information on the Facebook Instant Articles box on the bottom of the screen?

I’ll need to see the source markup and the transformed markup in order to help.

Diego, I have the plugin’s latest version (2.7), but I’m still stuck with issues related to special characteres and empty content when updating posts using WordPress dashboard.

@thinkoneres2016 can you also share the debug information on the Facebook Instant Articles box on the bottom of the screen? For both cases (encoding and empty content)

    1) Here are the prints about the encoding issue: https://postimg.org/gallery/2j31q28fq/

    My regular RSS Feed: https://bit.blog.br/feed

    Plugin RSS Feed: https://bit.blog.br/feed/instant-articles

    Original post: https://bit.blog.br/landing-jobs-evento-ti-europa-brasileiros-4411

    * I noticed that titles are fine, even if they have special characters like accents. The problem is post content.

    2) Here are the prints about the missing content issue:

    PHP version 5.5.30
    MySQL version 5.5.48.
    Plugin version 2.7

    Desculpa o desespero ??

Thank you all for the answers! I understand that is a new plugin and it takes some time to be stable but I am like a baby who wants a candy when something new “show up” :)) (kidding)

    What I did?
I have updated to 2.7 but the problem is still there.
I have deactivated plugins one by one to see if other plugins may cause this, no luck.

    What I think?
The theme I use may cause the problem.

@diegoquinteiro Here are the error messages:

    1. The server responded with the following messages:
The HTML element does not contain any text: Avoid including empty HTML elements

    2. This post was transformed into an Instant Article with some warnings:
No rules defined for <div> in the context of InstantArticle

Same thing happened to me when I tried resaving my posts. I just tried 2 articles to resave and both of them got an empty content. The articles submitted becomes empty unlike when it was submitted via RSS.

I’m using the latest version 2.7 on WordPress 4.5 and PHP 2.6.

    @marhgil

You mean PHP 4.6, not 2.6, right?

I have the same issue you reported here. But I also can’t use RSS because it’s ruining all the special characters in post content (titles are fine).

    @ thikoneres2016

I mean, PHP 5.6. Thanks for correcting me.

Just an update, when resaving on the post list (wp-admin/edit.php) using Quick Edit and clicking Update, the content becomes blank.

However, when I tried opening the whole post (wp-admin/post.php) and resaving it there, the content is complete. So you must resave the posts by opening one-by-one and updating it.

Wow, that is a good Idea. Gonna try it now.

    # Edit:

Dude, you was right. It solved the missing content issue.

But I’m still having trouble with special characters. I noticed a lot of people complaining about it here and in GitHub. I don’t know if it’s a plugin or SDK problem. Hope they will fix it soon.

So, this means you cannot update your post using Quick Edit as it will make your Instant Articles content empty. It is still a bug and should be fixed, I think.

I can also confirm that quick edit leaves my articles empty, but publishing individually works fine.

However, this is quite a crippling bug, as I would rather not spend an hour clicking in and out of 50 posts just to get it into review! =)

I know things must be crazy busy at the moment, but any update on this? Are you aware of the cause?

    Cheers!
