InstantWP won't accept theme

  • I’ve installed InstantWP locally so I can produce and put together a site before going live.

    I’ve got a theme that is 8MB (as a zip file) but when I try to upload and install it on InstantWP I get this message:

    “The uploaded file exceeds the upload_max_filesize directive in php.ini.”

    Any ideas?

  • unzip the theme archive and move the folder into /wp-content/themes

    I would look at why the file is 8mb, twenty eleven is just over 800kb including the header images.

    I would guess that your theme is heavy with large images, search online for a web image optimizer and crunch them images, or the theme will just run like a two legged dog!
