• Hi
I’ve read through the pdf instruction manual, and will try and implement this plugin. However, I would need to know if instead of using the search form, does the plugin work with categories only? I mean, instead of the search form could I simply have “author”, “publisher”, “year”, etc – and on clicking these you would see an alphabetical list ordered by author, or publisher, or year, from the library database? That would be fantastic, because for my case I don’t need a search form!

Also, can I use the plugin without using its circulation part? I need to build a library site which is more for purchases (will have to find a add to cart plugin afterwards) than loans.

    many thanks!

If the search string was empty (effectivly wildcarded), then the ‘search’ results would be all items by category. You would just need to replace the generated search form with a manualy crafted one that used a ‘hidden’ input tag instead of the search string input tag.

OTOH, most decent shopping cart / e-commerce systems include a ‘product database’ that would be structured by category, and probably other criteria (eg something like author, year, publisher, etc.). Which would make the web librarian plugin redundant.

I don’t think the web librarian really makes sense in an E-Commerce context.

following up on the original question, is there a way to create a page that would bypass the search box, and only display a list of books in a certain category?

If so, could you describe what kind of shortcode would produce such a page?

    Many thanks.

This would be a feature that would also greatly interest me.

Having for instance 6 Categories which when clicked on would display a list of books in those categories, which could be author, subject, publisher etc.

    Thanks
