The universal file system limit is 250 characters. I have successfully displayed a file named like this:

organizational chart (1) [1234567890 1234567890 1234567890 1234567890 1234567890 1234567890 1234567890 1234567890 1234567890 1234567890,1234567890 1234567890 1234567890 1234567890 1234567890 1234567890 1234567890 1234567890 1234567890 1234567890].pdf

But be aware that in some versions of Windows, the character limit includes the path to the file as well.

For others following this thread, it turns out that plmorpheus’ problem was he had a comma (,) in his custom data text, and everything after the comma was not appearing in his single custom data column. This is because File Away uses commas to separate different blocks of custom data for multiple custom columns in a table.
