    Hi,

Hopefully i can get some advices regarding integrating a payment gateway here.. and some more..

I am currently looking for a membership plugin (and there are ALOT) that solve all the membership problems we often need it to do, like levels, content dipping, recurring payment, trial membership etc. but most of the more solid plugins i have found are using paypal, stripe, cybersource etc. I want to use one of those membership plugin, but as you have guessed, I don’t want to use those payment gateways.

I could continue to look for other membership plugins but often the community is sparse, plugin unstable and those sorts of problems. Is the only way to integrate like QuickPay, DIBS, EPay, Clearhaus is to get a developer on integrating with existing membership plugin, and can i be sure that is actually possible to do? Is it that way i would solve it or what would you recommend?

I’m not a programmer as you probably have guessed, but there are a lot of considerations i need to take into account before I chose any membership plugin and how to deal with payments both from private customer as well as public/governmental.

And that’s not all. I also need to make sure that the membership plugin works with rest of the wordpress site and plugins, since it’s going to be sort of the core of the webshop besides the service I want to provide. My question is, does all/most of the memebship plugins integrate to the wordpress, let’s say, the login/register functionality, then handle all users or do they create their own ecosystem with users so they somehow need to be customized if i want to integrate them with, like bbpress, and other plugins?

I’m sorry for my lack of knowledge in this area, but hopefully someone can fill me in on it? I have used many hours trying to figuring how the wordpress works and how it can be used for my service, but in regards to all sort of functionality I want it to do.

Money is sparse, else I would probably have contacted an experienced developer.

    Thank you beforehand!

Sorry for the slow reply. I don’t know how much progress you’ve made on this, if any. It sounds like membership functionality is your most important consideration. You should identify which ever plugin best meets your needs, then figure out how to make the rest work with it. If the membership plugin is specifically for WordPress, then of course it should be compatible. If it’s for another platform, it will not work with WordPress. If you like this plugin for another platform that much, consider building your site on that other platform. WordPress is not always the answer for everyone, there are other viable platforms.

If you don’t like any payment gateways that are available for your chosen plugin, you would need to hire a developer to build an interface. This is no small task, and it is critically important that the interface be completely secure, reliable and trouble free. You cannot afford anything less when dealing with people’s money. This is so important that I would be willing to make huge concessions to avoid custom development and go with an available, proven gateway, even if you don’t consider it ideal.

Your only other option is to identify an ideal payment gateway and find a compatible membership plugin. Which are you more willing to make concessions over?

Thank you for your answer bcwokz!

I did find a plugin that actually helped me with around 90% of my needs, besides that i can integrate a new payment gateway easily.

Nice! If you at some point decide that the missing 10% really is important, it’s much more reasonable to have that custom developed than a payment gateway! ??
