• Has anyone tried integrating Facebook Connect into their WordPress blog yet? I’m having trouble getting it to work.

  • I am also having trouble getting it to work, after several tries.

    Any news? I’m running WP 2.7 CR1 latest release.

    Here’s the actual error message that I get when I follow the Viddler tutorial on setting up Facebook Connector:

    ===========================

    Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class services_json in /home/content/j/a/m/jamesinsf/html/wp-content/plugins/fbconnect/facebook-client4/classes/JSON.php on line 116

    ===========================

    I actually got it to work, despite the Fatal error: message. After configuring everything as the Viddler video tutorial suggested, I activated the Widget. Although it is buggy, it now works!

    There is a new plugin for WP which does this automatically. I’m using it on mobodojo.com and its working mostly well. Here’s the link:

    https://www.sociable.es/2008/10/09/facebook-connect-wordpress-plugin-released/

    The problem I’m having is that the sub-pages (click on a visitor image and you’ll see what I mean) don’t show up correctly. It has something to do with the template elements in the plugin’s settings, but I can’t find any documentation on it just yet.

    Buggy indeed. Sometimes it doesn’t include an email address on connection. Sometimes it shows me logged in when I’m not. Cookies seem to get confused a little bit.

    I HATE that the template is hard coded. Please give us an actual usable widget without crappy jumbled code!

    The Facebook Connector plugin simply does not work. I am using 2.7 of WP.

    I tried following the new video that’s up from the Facebook Connect Developers, but the Facebook Connect button does not show, even after proofing the code they show you in the video at

    https://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=630597485523

    Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

    There are still problems and the plugin just does not solve them. I think FB Connect is simply not ready for WordPress yet.

    Has ANYONE gotten it to work NOT using the FB Connect plugin?

    I’ve got it installed now and I’m not getting the Facebook button. In fact, instead of Facebook images being displayed, it’s the user Gravatars that show up.

    My theme IS an arcane mix of 2.x-2.7 code mixed together but there shouldn’t be anything stopping the plugin all together like this.

    I’m wondering if maybe I missed a setting on facebook itself or…?

    If we’re talking about the Reyes / sociable version of Facebook connect (there are 2 versions), I’ve found it only works (for me) with 2.7 compliant themes. Any older theme and things get messed up.
