• i opted for ‘paid migration’ of content from my WP.com site to my current kingdomofjoga.com with bluehost. somehow the perma-links were not set up correctly, so that i had a lot of ‘broken links’ that re-directed to the former (now private) WP.com website.

i then installed a ‘broken links checker’ WP plug-in hoping i could do a bulk-edit myself. unfortunately my site is huge (over 30K entries) and the plugin would crash before it could change the 2000+ broken links. the ‘velvet blues’ plug-in also couldn’t handle a ‘bulk edit’.

bluehost was able to change all the broken links to the current kingdomofjoga.com URL. unfortunately this created another problem. when i did the migration, i had been told that my old media library would be integrated into the new site. what i hadn’t noticed is that a good chunk of my images were still linking back to ‘dopeland.files.wordpress.com’, i had used up the 3 GB limit for the old media library and it seems that most were not integrated into my new media library. i didn’t notice at first because i still have access to the old wp.com dopeland site (it’s set to ‘private’) and so the images would show up for me.

so now theres hundreds of broken links after bluehost replaced all the ‘dopeland.files.wordpress.com’ with ‘kingdomnofjoga.com’. and there’s no easy way to search for all the files that used to be linked back to dopeland.

ive tried exporting the media library from my old WP.com site via dashboard. it starts to download a .TAR file with estimated download time of 20 min or so. but the download always fails somewhere past the 10 min mark.

    “failure – network error’.

(my wifi connection and upload speed is fine on all other devices here)

is there some easier way to integrate the old media library with the new one? any help appreciated!

*i posted a clearer explanation with screenshots on my blog*
