Integration of WordPress and phpBB3.1.6

  • I am building a new site on WordPress and have an old but newly upgraded phpBB 3.1.6 forum with 4400 posts, which I want to integrate with the new WP-site. What are my best options for integrating these today?

    From what I have read so far it seems like it has become more difficult to integrate with phpBB since version 3 and most of the integration-plugins seems to be outdated or not working. So any input on the currently available proven options would be greatly appreciated.

    If I have to choose I will favor theme integration over integration of users and posts.
