• I’ve been noticing a lot of people registering to leave comments using the integrated Social Login plugin. However, none of them ever leave comments. I thought I had found and fixed the issue, until today, when i attempted to login via Facebook and leave a comment of my own. Here’s what happened:

Name and Email fields were set to “required.” I would login with Facebook and those two fields are now hidden from view (obviously). My comment will not post because of missing field info.

So I changed the settings for the Name and Email fields to no longer be required. Went back to the site, logged in with Facebook and now the comment posts as expected. However, the name and email are not being pulled in. In fact, WordPress is telling me that the comment I just left was left by “Anonymous.”

I don’t know whether the problem is with wpDiscuz or with Social Login, so I’ll post this thread with Social Login, as well. But for now, I’ve been forced to deactivate the Social Login plugin, because users who were logging in are not able to leave a comment.

  • Hi brandon.w,
Please note: wpDiscuz is integrated with social login plugins.
That is not a native system.

I realize that. That’s why I posted over there as well. But since you are integrated, I thought maybe it might be worth a look.

Edit: My point is that if the integration doesn’t work as intended, then perhaps the integration should not exist.

    Hi brandon.w,
we don’t know if this is a general or site specific issue. It needs to be tested. We’ll check it and update the set of SE plugins.
