Interacting with the application data

I am working on a test website (a website to register volunteers online).
I have installed the Apply online application. I have created applications. Now how do I interact with applicants. I would like to send emails to selected or all applicants (like news or updates) but there is no option in the plugin to do that. Is there a specific add on that I need to install?
