Hi, I have started to build a PDF Gallery with Sample Documents created from MS Excel for viewing purposes.

I am wondering if MLA is capable of allowing Excel Templates to be interactive within an online environment?

More specifically, for my Interactive Level 1, if I create a MS Excel template can it be used like a calculator or interactive worksheet? I would like to lock up the sheet but leave selected cells unlocked so that viewers can enter information while having the results displayed via formulas in locked cells.

If Interactive Level 1 above is possible, then my question for Interactive Level 2 is: Would it be possible for a user/visitor to upload data from an input sheet and populate specific cells identified within my templates?

Thanks in advance for any insight on this inquiry.

What an interesting idea, and a great application possibility.

There are other cloud-based services that support this, like Google Docs and Microsoft Live, but I don’t know of anything like it in the WordPress environment.

It would be an interesting idea for a plugin of its own, but I am afraid it is outside the scope of Media Library Assistant.

    Hi David,

Like you, I have thought about the cloud-based services you mention along with others like DropBox but remain hesitant because of the possibly access to along wiht the confidentiality and privacy of information submitted by visitors.

Going forward do you see Media Library Assistant accommodating MS Excel uploads versus Images or PDF’s?

I have searched WordPress for Excel Plugins but have only found a small handful that are simplistic in comparison to the level of sophistication being sought.

Realizing these hurdles, I have a short-list of individuals/organizations who might be able to help with my project needs and I will be reaching out to them. Based on our brief interaction within this forum, seeing the quality of your work on MLA, and appreciating the quality of your knowledge expressed within the support forum, perhaps we should have a discussion offline. If you agree and have some interest in having a brief discussion, you can connect with me on Skype at pcusack-pkc.

Thank you for the stimulating Skype sessions we’ve had on this and related topics. You’ve got a great project in the works.

Our discussions confirmed that the “interactive spreadsheet” functions are not within the scope of the Media Library Assistant, so I am marking this issue resolved.
