Intermittent Error establishing a database connection on my computer ONLY

  • Hi,

    This is very strange. I get this error, which 99.99% is because of a wrong setting in wp-config.php:

    Error establishing a database connection

    But for me that is not the case, it has been working on and off all evening. I contacted my host who swear that is it not a server issue. Infact they can access my site fine and have even sent me a screen shot.

    It seems that it is only my computer that is having the intermittent problem.

    I tried repairing wpoptions table in mysql. The only thing that seems to work is either reset my computer or just wait???

    Any one got any ideas? Im stumped.

    edit: I just went to browsershots and got screenshots of my website from over 20 browsers. They all show the site working fine. Yet it still isn’t working on my computer.

    I have tried clearing cache on my browsers. Plus, my other websites on the same server are working fine on my computer and they are driven by mysql….

  • I’ve had this problem before when my ISP’s switching software was shorting out. If your case is like mine it is your web connection that is the problem. You should contact your ISP and ask if they’ve had trouble in the area.

    Thanks, how come it is just this one website though? All other wordpress installs on sites on the same server are working fine.

    Not sure, but try disabling firewall and antivirus..
    Also, your ISP may not like only one site, with particular database server..

    was having this same problem, then I tried on a different browser and no error, so I tried clearing out the recent history in Firefox and that seemed to fix it
