Intermittent Lost Connection

  • When I’m able to log into admin I am frequently disconnected. The disconnection usually, but not exclusively, occurs when trying to save a post/page. After the disconnection I cannot reconnect for a few minutes. Additionally, I cannot view my actual site AND my other WP sites in any browser (IE, Chrome, & Opera). All sites fail simultaneously. My host (register.com) was able to view my 3 unrelated sites when I could not view or log on. Please help!!!!

    I already did the “text book” deactivation of all plugins and that does not help. I didn’t expect it to considering that I’m having a simultaneous failure across 3 exclusive sites with different plugins. My non-WP sites, on the same host, do not go down. Therefore, I think this is a WP issue, not an obvious host issue.

  • I would still be suspicious of a hosting issue, or even an ISP issue.

    All sites fail simultaneously.

    If your databases are on the same server together, but your WP installations and non-WP sites are on another, those non-WP sites will still function normally.

    Just because your host has no connection issue to their servers doesn’t rule out connection issues for you. I’d ask them to help you with server logs and traceroutes to see if you find anything there first.

    Thanks. They stated that they looked at the server logs and did not see any downtime. I just enabled the error log feature that is part of my hosting. I’m going to wait for another failure and see what the log captures.
