    Hi there,

I’m trying to run the bulk optimizer on an nginx / php5 server, and after one or two images are compressed successfully I start getting Gateway timeout errors, and then I think PHPFPM crashes. I have to restart the server again as it’s non-responsive to HTTP (although I can still SSH in).

In the nginx error logs I see:
upstream timed out (110: Connection timed out) while reading response header from upstream

Any idea why this would happen or how I could start debugging? I’ve restarted the server 3 times now, so it’s a consistent issue for me.

    Thanks very much,
    Mark

    Hi Alex,

    Sorry to hear this.

Could you also contact us on [email protected]?

Also, your php info output would be helpful.

On a sidenote this could be related to a pending issue with slower performance during peak hours that could lead to these timeouts. We are currently investigating this.

Hope to hear from you soon!

I’ve also got massive problems using this plugin for bulk optimization. When the progress is running, my whole site becomes so slow, that it’s not possible to open any further pages on the frontend. And after a few optimiations I get “Empty reply from server” errors on the tinypng backend page.

My site is running on a very powerful root server, more than enough resources and high limits for php, so I cannot believe that it’s a serverside problem, to be honest. PHP Version 7.2.0, Memory Limit 1024M.

    Hi,

We are currently investigating a problem with slower API performance during peak hours. This could be related to the errors that you are receiving. Could you try increasing your PHP max_execution_tim to at least 120 seconds?

If you keep getting these errors, would it be possible for you to contact us on [email protected] with as much information as possible so we can investigate further?

Hope to hear from you soon!

I face this same problem for almost one year! Please do something, I’m a free subscriber.
