    Hello,

Internal links used to display in a nice box with the featured image and an excerpt but they seem to display that way only with Firefox and not with Chrome anymore – maybe since 5.7?

Is there anything that can be done to restore this without any plugin?

    Thanks!

  • You need to give more details.
Where was the nice box? (admin or front end)
If admin, which editor are you using?
If front end, what theme are you using?
What triggers the nice box? click? hover? something?
Do you have a browser extension that shows the nice box?

Yeah, I should have added a screenshot before…
    Here it is: https://ibb.co/tQjNwV3

Using Generatepress theme and, according to their support, that seems to be a WP feature. They always display on frontend when adding internal links in posts/pages.

No extensions, nothing special; they just display that way without adding any code and they work only with internal links it seems.

When clicking on them in editor it opens a box similar to to those for inserting media but with “Insert from URL” menu.

For some sites they work fine with any browser but for others they work only that way with Firefox and not with Chrome.

Hi @dsl225! Unfortunately, this is a known bug in the editor:

Thanks for this, good to know!

Hi @dsl225! The issue is, apparently, not in the block editor (the link I’ve sent you before), but in the rendering part. So, if you want to follow the issue to see when it’s fixed, please use this link instead:

Thanks again Olga, that’s also good to know as I’m working with Classic Editor and not blocks.

Oh, I see. The issue I linked to has a patch, so I hope it will be fixed in the new release.

Yep, already applied and it works just fine – for those reading this thread.
