Can’t seem to figure out what’s suddenly caused this. Any ideas? Website URL is https://www.airdrie.net

    Thanks Podz.

    Open wp-setting and uncomment:
    define(‘DISABLE_CACHE’, true);

It is a problem relating to the new Cache system.

I can only find wp-settings (with an “s”) and the file does not appear to have this line present. I am using WP 1.5.2. The nearest line which relates to this is
    ‘if ( defined(‘WP_CACHE’) )
    require (ABSPATH . ‘wp-content/advanced-cache.php’);’

The cache setting Munnday refers to is part of the latest svn code and not 1.5.2 This was what sent my test site strange this morning so unfortunately my problem was not related to yours.

From forum hunting earlier though, the ‘premature end’ error could be related to the folder permissions so you may want to check they are all at 755 at least ?

Have you asked your host if they have changed anything at all, no matter how small ?

My host doesn’t appear to have done anything out of the ordinary over the last few days so I am well and truly stumped! Do you think I should reinstall WP over the existing files? And if so, what’s the best way to do this without causing too much grief?

OK – I went ahead and copied WP files from my original Wp download folder. This still left some files which had been added to the installation but it obviously meant that the WP core files were overwritten. Unfortunately this made absolutely no difference and I still get the error. I also uploaded a backup copy of my database for WP on the server just in case the tables were wonky – and again – no difference. I’m slowly running out of ideas. Can anyone help?

Can you set up a new subfolder on your web space and do a brand new install of wp to see if IT has the same problem? If so, then it is no doubt something with your host, regardless they are saying they’ve done nothing….

Vkaryl – I’ll give it a try and let you know.

Please do! Anything we can figure out will not only help you, but the next poor guy with the problem!

Hi Vkaryl. I’ve just set up another WP site on my webspace and it works fine (https://www.airdrie.net/wordpress).
Have you any ideas as to what’s stopping me from entering admin on my main site (https://www.airdrie.net/weblog2)?

hey can anyone here help me with my internal server error? you can see my other post, and if someone could help me (i could give you my dreamhost name and password) that would be really really appreciated as i’m a computer dummy, and can’t figure out what to do.

ragnarcarlson, PLEASE institute a new thread rather than hijacking this one!

breger, I don’t. Here’s what I would do were I you and in your position: since you have a working installation (the new one), I’d make incremental changes to it to bring it into line with the non-working one. Anything you did in the one now having a problem, do in the working install. ONE AT A TIME.

That way, when the now working install QUITS working, you’ll know what caused it. It’s a potentially long troubleshooting process, but there’s absolutely no point in changing everything at once only to find out that the now-working install is just like the non-working one – in other words, not working….

Y’know, breger…. before you go through all that….

Access your weblog2 install through your file manager or ftp client, and delete the entire contents of the wp-content/plugins folder (download it to your hard drive first if you want to keep a backup). I noticed in some of your error stuff above just now some “headers already sent” lines, and while I don’t know that your whole plugin setup is at fault, it’s possible….

Once you’ve done that, reupload the entire wp-admin folder, then try logging into admin again. This could be simple smoke and mirrors, but I’ve had stranger things happen….

Thanks for your help Vkaryl. I will try what you suggested and delete the plugins first. As you say – easier to crack an egg than crack a nut!

Success!!!! I deleted the plugins one by one until I got to wp-shortstat and when I deleted that – I could actually get into Admin area. Hopefully that’s the problem solved. Thanks to all of you for helping with this and confirm my faith in WP as the best around for support as well as ease of use.
