From time to time I am getting an Internal Server Error on my site. Initially I thought there was a conflict with my host: Aplus.net. So I called them but received no information whatsever. They basically told me to wait and see.

Can anyone tell me what the problem might be? .htaccess file?

Feel free to browse and see if you get an error: https://www.copilotnewyork.com

    Please help.

    Thanks for checking chaaban.

Does anyone know or have any ideas why this might be happening? It’s random, I’d say once everything 20 page views.

500 errors are notoriously difficult to troubleshoot without actually sitting on the server and watching what it’s doing at the time of the error (especially when they are random). This is one of those cases where “you should check with your host” is sadly the best suggestion we can offer.

That makes sense Kafkaesqui, thanks. I’m using Aplus.net as my host and it’s not a love affair. I guess it wouldn’t hurt to shop around for other providers.

What’s an optimal host environment for WordPress?
Would Media Temple be a good choice?

I’ve no experience with mt but not heard much bad about them. WordPress does have a ‘suggested’ hosts page:

Personally, I use ICDSoft for both my site and for a number of people I’ve set things up for, and in the last 3+ years had only a single incident which required contacting them. I’m not much for personal endorsements, but I’ll go out on a limb with these guys. ;)
