    Hello everyone

I’m hoping someone can help me out with a very strange issue I’m having.

    The problem

My client goes into WordPress admin, opens a post, edits it and clicks ‘Update’. It hangs for a while then after about 1 minute he gets a 500 Internal Server Error.

I do exactly the same thing and don’t get any problems at all. The post is updated after a couple of seconds.

The front end is fine and the admin is fine for him until he hits the ‘Update’ button.

    The background

The site is on GoDaddy hosting. It’s been up and running for several months with no problems. A couple of weeks ago it started crashing. GoDaddy advised we switch to their new grid hosting which we did. It was about this time the error started occurring. I’ve spoken to GoDaddy a few times and they say if it’s only my client having trouble updating and I’m not having any trouble, it can’t be a hosting issue.

I just can’t understand why it should be fine for me and not my client. We are doing EXACTLY the same thing using the same login details and the same browser (Chrome).

    What we’ve tried so far

We switched on error logging on the hosting and I asked my client to repeat the problem. It hasn’t resulted in any error logs.

On the advice of some posts I’ve read on here, I’ve deleted the .htaccess file – same problem

    I’ve asked my client to:
    – clear his browsing history
    – try on his laptop (instead of his desktop)
    – try a different browser (Firefox)
    – temporarily disable his Firewall

He’s done all this and is still getting the Internal Server Error.

I’ve tried many times here on a couple of different computers and I just can’t get the problem he gets.

Any ideas would be very much appreciated!

    Thanks in advance

    Helen

  • Do you have different WordPress user accounts? If so, can you try logging in with his user account and vice versa and see what happens?

    Hi

I can’t help I’m afraid – I know this sounds strange but the problem went away on it’s own. I suspect something might have changed on the hosting after I contacted them but I can’t be sure.

    Sorry about that.

I have just started having error 500 when I clicked on the posts link.
    By adding

    AddType x-mapp-php5 .php
    AddHandler x-mapp-php5 .php

to the .htaccess cured it instantly.
