This plugin doesn’t work properly with IE8.
When typing in the password it doesn’t display any dots which makes it look like the password isn’t being entered, when in fact it is.

Now, I don’t think the problem is with the plugin, as every other one that I’ve tried has this problem, or a variation on it. Some won’t accept the password at all and some show that you’ve logged in then go back to the default style when I refresh the page. Even woocommerce’s default login page has the “no dots” problem.

I’ve tried five other browsers and they all work perfectly, including IE9.

If anyone knows a way to overcome this problem I’d be very grateful as I would like to have this nice widget on my homepage, but given the number of people who still prefer XP (and therefore use IE8) I don’t want risk it.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

It’s weird, I work with IETab.net for browsers simulations and it works good for me (even for IE7).

I have no idea what could be the problem…

    Hi,
Thanks for responding. I’m a complete novice at site-building, so your help is greatly appreciated.

It’s reassuring that you didn’t see any problems using IEtab, but for me the mystery deepens.
I used IETab on Chrome and IE7 worked fine, but IE8 showed the same problem – no dots.

So I dug out an old laptop running XP/IE8 and tried that. Same problem using the IE8 browser, but when I tried Chrome/IETab, all was fine.

So I tried the wife’s laptop running Vista/IE9. Everything working fine, including the Chrome/IETab.

I don’t have a network at home, so the only thing these computers have in common is the router.

Tomorrow I’m popping round to see a friend who’s using XP/IE8 to see if that works. How deep does this rabbit-hole go . . .

Would you be so kind as to try out my site – harptrees.com – it’s still under construction but the homepage is published.

Thanks again for your help and for the heads-up on IETab, that’s a useful bit of kit.

According to my tests through IETab – works perfectly in IE7, IE8 and IE9.

PS : I would be grateful to get your rating for the plugin ??
