Interpunction in keywords

    Hi all,

    Working with Yoast for several years now but encountering the first issue. I have a webshop where we sell stuff from S.T. Dupont. As you might have seen there are several points in the brand name but the brandname is part of the meta.

    Yoast seems to struggle with that. I have tried to put it alle between quotes but that didn’t work. Any clues how to deal with this. I have searched the topics but dind’t find anything similar.

    Would you please elaborate this issue in more detail with example? If you see any sort of errors or warnings, can you please write us what they are? If possible, can you take a screenshot that highlights this issue? This would help us investigate the issue further.

    Hi,

    thank you for the quick response. I don’t really get an error but the problem is that i get the message that the focus keyword isn’t in the text although it is several times.

    The keyword i want to use is e.g. S.T. Dupont Ligne black. In the text the keyword is present 4 times but Yoast is telling me that it isn’t. When i remove the dots like: ST Dupon, it is working fine. So i think the plugin expects a return or something. Removeing the dots is a workaround but due to the brand name in want it to be spelled the right way.

    If i change te keyword i will also adjust the text on the website to match ??

    Thanks for bringing this to our attention. The issue you are currently experiencing is a known bug where Yoast SEO fails to detect the focus keyphrases from the first paragraph when there’s a special character between the focus keyphrases like . or > etc.

    A bug report is currently open in our development repository for this issue. You can find the relevant bug report here. You can follow the progress of the relevant report from the relevant GitHub issue. You can leave a comment on there as well to get an update in your email.

    That said, even though Yoast SEO is failing to detect the focus keyphrases correctly from the first paragraph, it’s a false positive that you can ignore safely if you know for sure the focus keyphrases are appearing fine in the first paragraph. Search engines won’t have any issues finding the relevant keyphrases from the relevant page.

    Thank you very much. I will follow the development.

    And i know Google is reading it the right way but i hate de orange and red dots. :-).

    This ticket can be closed as far as i’m concerned.
