Intranet files not updating

I’m not sure if this is a WP issue:
I have set up a local intranet. Whenever I edit a local file (.doc or .pdf) the new version is not displayed from the link on the webpage.
The only method I know to show the new version is to rename it and edit the hyperlink.
I’m using WordPress (the current one) and Filezilla to upload the files.
