    Hi,
I would like to set up a multi-vendor marketplace without transparent prices. Vendors will upload their products and name their prices but the customers will send a request for a quote and the entire sales process will be behind the scenes (online or offline).

I thought to use the “Dokan” plugin to manage vendors, Woo-commerce for the shop, and “Quote Request for WC” to allow customers to get prices. Do I need these heavy-duty plugins for these needs? After all, it is just a “product feeder” and a “shop” without a payment option.

    Thanks
    Ilan

    Hi Ilan

    Thank you for reaching out!

I understand that you’d like to set up a multivendor marketplace where the prices are only provided upon request and you’d like to know whether that is possible without plugins like Dokan Multivendor and Quote Request for WooCommerce.

It might be possible to do this without additional plugins but it would require code customization.

With WooCommerce by default, it is not possible to only provide access to orders placed for certain products as opposed to all orders/products/settings of your site.

Some adjustments are possible with a plugin such as User Role Editor but that is not a substitute for a multi-vendor marketplace plugin.

You’d also need either a plugin or code customization to provide prices on request and handle the communication/sale process.

Therefore, if this is possible with third-party plugins like Dokan Multivendor and Quote Request for WooCommerce – I’d argue these plugins aren’t necessarily too “heavy-duty” for this purpose.

You may want to reach out to support teams of Dokan and Quote Request plugins and ask them whether these plugins are compatible with each other, meaning that quote requests will be rerouted to vendors as opposed to only site administrator receiving those.

    I hope this helps!

    Hi,
Your answer made my conflict clearer -is this solution is an overkill? Since vendors and customers are not supposed to meet and most of the process is by a form – “upload product form” and “request a quote” form, then maybe I need to invest my efforts in a communication plugin like PM or team management plugin that will record the activity?

    What do you think?

    Thanks again
    Ilan

It might be possible to find a plugin to take care of such forms, however, I’m not familiar with any plugins capable of accepting new product uploads via a form.

Most likely, this will not be possible without some sort of vendor management plugin.

    I hope this helps!
