Invalid action URL detected / forms not working

    Hello,

    I have been using Contact Form 7 for many years and have never had any problems. Now I have updated it via the plugin updates and suddenly not a single contact form on my website works anymore. Instead ‘invalid action url detected’ is displayed. I have tried and inserted various new contact forms and the same thing happens. Unfortunately, I can’t find anything about this on Google or via Search here. Does anyone have any idea how I can get the contact forms working again? I’m quite lost with this…

    I’m using Paperio Theme by ThemeZaa.

    Active plugins: Advanced editor tools, Borlabs Cookie Opt-In, Compact Audio Player, Contact Form 7, Cool Tag Cloud, Disable Gutenberg, Easy Table of Contents, Google Analytics for WordPress by MonsterInsights, Image Watermark, Internal Link Juicer, Intuitive Custom Post Order, Local Google Fonts, Maps Marker Pro, MC4WP: Mailchimp for WordPress, OneSignal Push Notifications, Paperio Addons, PHP Compatibility Checker, Post Duplicator, qTranslate-XT, Redirection, Regenerate Thumbnails, Replace Image, Simple Alert Boxes, Simple Image Sizes, Simple Lightbox, Tabs Responsive (+ some extra code since it interfered with Paperio dropdown menus), UnderConstruction, Updraft Plus, Widget for Social Page Feeds, Wordfence Security, WordPress Popular Posts, WP Content Copy Protection

    Try switching to the default theme, deactivating all plugins excluding Contact Form 7 and Wordfence Security, and clearing all cache data.

    Why you are advised to deactivate plugins and switch to the default theme.

    Hi,

    I have set the default theme and deactivated all plugins. Then I checked whether there are incompatibilities with other plugins. And indeed: Maps Marker Pro does not work in parallel with Contact Form 7. How do I now find out where the problem is and how to solve it? In fact, both plugins are essential for the use of the website.

    If it was really Maps Marker Pro, as it’s a commercial plugin available outside the www.ads-software.com plugin directory, we can’t help you here anymore. Contact the plugin seller instead for support.

    That said, I don’t think Maps Marker Pro is the likely culprit. The error of “Invalid action URL detected” occurs when something changes the form action URL using the wpcf7_form_action_url filter hook, and that is the last thing a maps manager plugin would be likely to do. Also, I found that their website uses Contact Form 7 without any errors.

    Ok, so if it’s probably not a plugin vs plugin interference although it obviously happens only when both plugins are activated, what else can I do to solve this?

    As I wrote, the problem is occurring because something rewrites the action URL. This is a sure thing. You need to find out which plugin or theme is doing that. I feel that a maps maker plugin is unlikely to do that, but I’m not sure about this.

    Hi again,
    the problem has been solved. I hadn’t realised that I was missing several updates for Maps Marker Pro or that the used plugin was no longer up-to-date. Now that it is running on the latest version, the contact form problem has disappeared.
