"Invalid character in username" registration error since 4.2.1 update

    Hi community!

    Since updating to 4.2.1., every time a user wants to register they receive an “illegal character in username” error. I have tried it myself, no illegal characters are used (I tried usernames such as Test etc.).

    Since 4.2.1. is boosting new character support, I have a feeling it may be a bug, tho I couldn’t find any reports on it anywhere.
    I’m running 4.2.1., network enabled, Dutch language.

    Since I don’t speak php, I have no clue where to start looking so any help / advice is more than welcome – TIA!

    This is weird – the capital letter in the username is the causing the error. So Test is not allowed, test is.

    That’s certainly new …

    Just learned this is a WP-network “feature”.
    Sadly I only found out after a lot of google’ing …

    Off to fix that, cos registrations went down to 0,0.
