On my blog https://xmau.com/wp/notiziole all comments are sent to me for review, and those from a newcomer have to be manually approved. Since some months ago, while comments from oldcomers are regularly shown, I cannot see the text of those from newcomers: only the possible actions (approve/trash/spam) are present, with the relative link. If I click on the link I see the comment, but there is a warning “Invalid comment ID”, which is probably the reason while I don’t receive the text of the comment.

    I don’t have a lot of plugins:
    Akismet Anti-Spam
    Classic Editor
    Classic Editor Addon
    Contact Form 7
    CookieYes | GDPR Cookie Consent
    Health Check & Troubleshooting
    Jetpack
    Password Protected
    Public Post Preview
    Semantic-Linkbacks
    Webmention
    WP Webmaster

and none of them seems to be related to comments. What can be happened?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

This may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.

    ____

If you can install plugins, install and activate “Health Check”: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/health-check/
It will add some additional features under the menu item under Tools > Site Health.
On its troubleshooting tab, you can Enable Troubleshooting Mode. This will disable all plugins, switch to a standard WordPress theme (if available), allow you to turn your plugins on and off and switch between themes, without affecting normal visitors to your site. This allows you to test for various compatibility issues.
There’s a more detailed description about how to use the Health Check plugin and its Troubleshooting Mode at https://make.www.ads-software.com/support/handbook/appendix/troubleshooting-using-the-health-check/

    Thank you!
Since I am lazy, I stopped after the first paragraph and proceeded to deactivate all plugins (my blog does not have a lot of traffic, so it was not a problem) and found out that the culprit was Semantic-Linkbacks. I just posted there: but since I did not actually use that plugin, I just left it deactivate.

I do have Health Check installed, and next time I will use it. Probably in this case it was useless, however, since the bug was triggered from messages received from a commenter and so I had to work with the live blog!

    Thanks again, .mau.
