    Hi there,

I’ve been running the Eway plugin for about a month now and all transaction are processed correctly with no issues.

My problem is when a customer enters the wrong credit details by mistake. For example if I put my credit card details as 1122 3344 5566 7788 or other made up details and hit Pay, I don’t get ANY message to say that the credit card details are invalid. This means that when a customer enters even just a wrong digit at checkout, they don’t get ANY alert.
I can tell by looking at the status of orders that at least 3 customers ran into that issue and left the shop altogether (as a result the order is left as Pending).

I rang Eway support 2 days ago and they said it’s nothing to do with them, it’s to do with Woocommerce checking the credit card details against an algorithm before they send the details through to Eway: if the credit card details don’t match the algorithm the customer should be notified though!

I tried disabling all plugins apart for woocommerce and eway, no luck.
    WC status details are included

    Thanks

  • Hi @paoloufs – Can you ensure that you aren’t seeing any notices because of a plugin/theme conflict?

The best way to determine this is to:

    • Temporarily switch your theme to Storefront
    • Disable all plugins except for WooCommerce
    • Repeat the action that is causing the problem

If you’re not seeing the same problem after completing the conflict test, then you know the problem was with the plugins and/or theme you deactivated. To figure out which plugin is causing the problem, reactivate your other plugins one by one, testing after each, until you find the one causing conflict. You can find a more detailed explanation on how to do a conflict test here.

    Hi Joey,

    thanks for responding

I changed the theme to Storefront, disabled all plugins, then enabled only Woocommerce and the Eway Woocommerce plugin, then tested it.

Still no luck, I don’t get any alert when I enter made up credit card details in and click Confirm. What is the alert message meant to look like anyway? Do you have a screenshot I can look at for reference?

    Hi @paoloufs,

Thanks so much for following up with us on this, and for including the screenshot.

I did some testing on this and am seeing the same behavior on my test site that you are seeing – no “Invalid card number” error for card numbers that don’t pass the Luhn algorithm test.

Thank you so much for alerting us to this! I’ve opened an issue for this so that our developers can look into this.

    Hi Jess,

thanks for your response, I’m glad it’s not just me then…
I look forward to the next release of your plugin then.
I will add a message about double checking credit card details before submitting for the time being.
