I recently installed the Uncanny Automator but it’s not posting anything to my twitter. No title, no URL, no image, not anything. I have set it up correctly, and followed numerous tutorials and still nothing. I don’t know what’s going on and I need help. I am using the free version for Twitter.

For Status it says: “Completed, did nothing”
For Notes it says: “Invalid File URL”

Also when i select the “Resend” i get an error.

Hi @bustedncmugshots , any chance you can post a screenshot with all details expanded? If it’s easier, you can also send a copy to our support mailbox at [email protected].

It sounds like the failure is because you’re perhaps using an image or other URL somewhere in the action and what’s being populated for that URL isn’t valid. We’ll want to see what token you’re using here and how it’s being populated. If there are URLs or images in the recipe, adding details about where it’s coming from would really help.

(If you’re not sure what’s being passed to Twitter, it can helpful to add a Send an Email action as well that includes all of the tokens you’re using so you can review what Automator sees as the time the recipe runs.)

    Hi.

Here’s a screenshot of the expanded with details https://ibb.co/4p6z72P

Also, I set up an send email action but didn’t get the email. I literally don’t know what’s going on and it’s very frustrating because I see so many people having good reviews, yet I’m not having a good experience.

I don’t know what’s being passed to Twitter tbh.

    Hi @bustedncmugshots ,

I’m sure we can get things sorted out for you. ??

What you sent doesn’t show the trigger(s) here though, and in the Status field there is a Post URL token. Seeing the full recipe will help us understand where that’s coming from.

I don’t see the email action in the recipe either. Maybe you can show us how that one is set up as well?

And just for simplicity to rule the URL issue out, have you tried the recipe without the Post URL token, just to confirm that is in fact your problem?

    Thanks

Thanks for your fast response. Hopefully, we can get this fixed.

Okay, so here are the trigger settings https://ibb.co/jysq723

To my knowledge, this is the full recipe https://ibb.co/1rDc3LR

The reason i put the post URL in the status is because i wanted it to pull the featured image from the post to post to the twitter or if i can have it where it’s like a image tweeted with the URL in the the caption of the tweet so people can click the link to read more.

Is there anyway, tech support can get in my PC and fix this?

Also, i deleted the send email action because it was asking me to put info in the body of the email. I thought it would send my new post to the email.

    Hi @bustedncmugshots ,

Okay, it does sound like your approach isn’t quite correct then.

Right now nothing in your recipe would pull in the featured image. It sounds like you want the token for the featured image URL (not the post URL) in that “Image URL” field.

The “Status” is the message of the tweet, so right now you’re saying to put the raw URL of the post itself inside the tweet.

Were you able to try the test we suggested with removing the token to rule out a URL error there?

You’re welcome to submit a ticket on our website too, but our team works regular business hours and would likely follow up tomorrow. We try to avoid access (for privacy and security reasons) where possible, but certainly we can work with you to make sure it’s fixed.

Okay, it’s not pulling from the link either. It seems to work but it doesn’t pull a photo. So, how do i get it where it pull the featured photo rather than using the link to fetch the photo?

    Hi @bustedncmugshots ,

It might help to have you go through the example about halfway down this article. In this image, you can see how we’re using the Feature Image URL token in the Image URL field to send the image and other content to Twitter. Are you using the same token?

Maybe we could again return to basics for your test, so not using tokens at all. Try a simple recipe where a blog post with any taxonomy or any type is the trigger, and in the action, just populate the Status and Image URL fields with plain text (including the URL of a valid image). Does that work? If not, let us know what error you’re seeing or what’s failing.

If it does work, then try again with 1 token only, perhaps the “Post featured image URL” token. If that still fails, is it the same URL error again? Is there a valid featured image for the post set up in WordPress, so not related to a builder or other field you might be using?

Hi @bustedncmugshots , hopefully you were able to get things set up as needed. We’ll go ahead and mark this as resolved since it has been 3 weeks since the last update.
