I have seen other posts about other people getting same error – Invalid or duplicated SKU but no resolution. I did a product import and think the old product codes must still be in the database.

Can someone instruct where to find these in the wp_postmeta table so I can remove? What do I search for?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

SKU is stored in postmeta table with meta_key _sku

For those not comfortable with phpMyAdmin, after you have deleted the old products, you can try:
    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wp-optimize/
run the “delete orphaned metadata” function. Then upload the new products.

I currently already have the wp-optimize plugin installed, I can’t see the option to delete ophaned metadata?

Could it possibly be under something different?

I’ve looked it up in WP-Optimize settings, the exact name of the checkbox is: “Clean post meta data”, 3rd from the bottom. In the notes column it tells you how many orphaned meta data there are, though not whether they are skus or not.

Found it – it says its an intensive backup operation. Will I need to do a full site backup or can I just backup a particular part?

You should have regular backups anyway. On a couple of servers I have access to it’s just a setting thereafter its all done automatically at your specified interval. Mine’s set to daily at 3:00am. I think it depends on your attitude to risk. Personally I’d just do it.

Ok – I do have daily backups but I have made quite a few changes this morning that I don’t want to be affected so I will run a backup now just to be sure. Hopefully this will solve the issue.

Deleted the post meta data but this hasn’t solved the issue – still getting the error saying invalid or duplicated SKU.

Theres an option to clear trashed post could this be an option?

It could be. Now that you’ve backed up I should run the full suite of WP-Optimize.

    Try:
Dashboard > WooCommerce > Status > Tools tab
then click “delete orphaned variations” and “clear product transients”. I think I should have suggested this as the first thing to try.

^^^ That worked! Thank you so much for your help.
