Invalid Username even after resetting password

  • When I click on forgot password and enter my email address it sends me a reset passwork link and I reset my password. However, when I try an login it tells me invalid username. How do I find out my username? Thanks.

  • Sorry to piggyback your post but I have the same issue. WordPress sends me a link saying “To reset your password visit the following address” but no new password, I click on the link and it takes me back to the log in page which says “Check your e-mail for your new password.” so round and round I go and I’m locked out… How do I reset my password?

    moserengineering, exact same problem here and WordPress “help” forum mods closed my post before any responses could be made when I posted yesterday asking about this problem.

    I’m also locked out, even after FINALLY being let in to my account yesterday upon entering the exact same VALID username and password about 67 times and getting an error message. I had even made a detailed set of notes on how to get in to my account, so I wouldn’t have to go through this again, so I KNEW my username and password were correct. Took a screen capture of my profile page and everything once I was finally in, and yes, I *AM* remembering this info correctly AND entering it correctly but I’m locked out again today.

    All I can say about WordPress is, you get what you pay for. No surprise that it’s free because it’s buggy as all crap and has been nearly impossible for me to use no matter what I’m trying to do with it.

    No one closed any topic of yours. You did hit the spam queue but someone line me (you know, a “help” forum mod) will come around and clear that queue.

    I did delete the blank reply you left. It was blank after all.

    @moserengineering? If you are unable to reset your password via the link on your self-hosted WordPress installation has then please give this a read.

    It has steps that (naturally) do not need working access to your installation. Give it a good read, many people have been able to get back into their installations using one of those methods.

    And sorry to sound unreasonably grumpy, but I have wasted WAY too much time trying to do the most basic things with WordPress (like log in to my account??) and have lost much of my patience by now.
