Yeah, when I go to that and try to sign in it takes me to a blank page again.

And when I try to reset my password it says that I don’t exist. It’s just taking me in circles because apparently I don’t exist in the system, even though my website works on the front end, but the back-end I can’t get into.

Are you getting a totally blank page? Did you change anything on your site before this happened?

I would send a screen shot if this forum thing would let me, but I don’t see a place to add that.

But, when I click to log-in with my user/pass the page acts like it is going to log-in and then it goes to a completely blank page.

Then when I go to try to recover my password (I thought maybe that would help if I sign in with a different password) then it says I don’t exist with that username or email. The weird part is that I got an email from WordPress on November 20th telling me everything has been updated to 4.0.1

Okay, so that’s not weird as minor updates are automatic (unless you’ve disabled them – not a great idea). So you’ll need to use FTP or another file manager to access your site files on the server – and start by renaming the plugins folder. See if that will let you login again.

Try to change the admin username/password from phpMyAdmin using your website control panel (Cpanel or whatever it is).

Ok, I tried renaming the plug-ins folder on the FTP and that didn’t work :/ I mean, it still took me to the blank page when I signed in.

Anything else I can do?

We are using Godaddy as our hosting account. I know that’s terrible and I mostly hate them, but I didn’t set it up that way, my business partner did when he went into business :/

I went in and changed the password to the phpMyAdmin on godaddy.com and then I followed that video you sent, and now it says “Error Establishing a database connection” when I go to try to log-in using the https://www.betterthanboxes.com/wp-login.php site

You mean you dont have access to phpMyAdmin?!! if so, can you contact Godaddy and ask them to do that? they can restore backups for you. if not, upgrading your hosting and following instructions may solve your problem ??

No, I do have access to phpMyAdmin through GoDaddy, and I tried all those steps in the video and now I get an “error establishing a database connection” when I try to go to my site! So, go to https://www.betterthanboxes.com now and it says that. Can’t even get to the log in page now to even TRY to log in. Gosh, I think I screwed this up bad! :/

Did you look in the wp-config.php file? Make sure the User and Password is still correct.

Wow …. just a side note …. I went and checked other websites on the same server as yours, to see if MySql was working for them and it is. The Wow part is there is exactly 1000 sites being hosted on the server.

I got the website back up at least, still can’t log-in..

I had not changed the password in both locations, but I got that down now and at least the site is back up. Still need help loggin-in though, now it says “FILE NOT FOUND” when I try to log in using https://www.betterthanboxes.com/wp-admin.php. It takes me to my site but gives me that 404 page :/
