Invalid Username or email

  • I am trying to sign into my website and it says that my username/email doesn’t exist!

    We have been using wordpress for our business site for several years now and all of a sudden when I go to the “/wp-admin” to sign in I get a blank page. Then when I try to sign into wordpress.com it says that I don’t have a username/email registered, which I know is not true because we have been using wordpress for so long! Have I been hacked or something? If so, how do I recover the backend wordpress of my site?!

  • Try manually reinstalling WP – you’ll need to download a new copy of WP to your local computer and then replace everything EXCEPT the wp-config.php file and the wp-contents folder – delete the old versions before uploading the new ones to be sure they get replaced.

    If I reinstall that will it delete all of my content and pictures that are up there? I mean, will I basically have to start over? Or is that what you are saying with the EXCEPT the wp-config and the wp-contents folder? If I left those would the site still look the same I mean?

    Yes do not over write the wp-content folder or wp-config.php file and you will be ok.
