• Hello Andreas,

Although I am not the initial reporter of this issue, we also have the feeling that more payments cannot be processed during the last months. Checking the log files showed the same errors as in the topic mentioned below:

    2021-01-15T15:04:35+00:00 INFO Response Status : 404
    2021-01-15T15:04:35+00:00 ERROR Got Http response code 404 when accessing https://api.paypal.com/v1/payments/payment/PAYID-MAAXOUY79S88472BV048554D. {"name":"INVALID_RESOURCE_ID","message":"The requested resource ID was not found","information_link":"https://developer.paypal.com/docs/api/payments/#errors","debug_id":"425595fd39e11"}

Our cart and checkout pages are whitelisted from caching. Is there anything else we have to whitelist maybe?

    Best regards,
    Christopher

    Hello @ceem123

can you please check your server too. Maybe the files will be cached from the server. In the most cases “NVALID_RESOURCE_ID”comes from a caching issue

Also, try to reproduce it while all other plugins are disabled please

    Best regards

    Hello Andreas,

Thank you very much for the quick reply.

Initially I researched this topic, because a lot of consumers where reporting blank pages when trying to pay with paypal. Checking the logs then showed 404 errors that day and I assumed this would be the cause of these issues.

I just checked the logs more detailed and compared them with previous days for example. Almost all 404 errors belong to payments that were successfully captured one or two days in advance. Therefore it seems to be correct that these payments cannot be processed again.

However, do you perhaps also have a hint on how to solve the blank page problem? Please excuse the inconvenience.

    Best regards,
    Christopher

    Hello @ceem123

the blank page issue might be related to the permalink structures. Maybe you can make a test where permalinks are deactivated. If that works check your theme redirects, please. Also, you can turn on WordPress debug if you get any errors. Please have also a look at your PHP server error log files. I think there we can see a little more where it comes from.

    Best regards

    Hello Andreas,

    Thank you for the feedback.

Perhaps as an interesting information also for other possible readers of this:
We have adjusted the firewall rules and are now observing the situation.

Still, some complaints about issues with the Paypal payments are coming it, but we are not certain that these are related to the initial issue at the moment and will continue to observe this.

I will send an update next week or in a fortnite.

    Best regards,
    Christopher

    Hi Andreas,

Thanks again for the quick answers and the great support!

This issue has not been reported in the last weeks, so I feel comfortable that it is solved now. It was caused by Wordfence where the IP addresses of the Paypal servers had to be whitelisted: https://www.paypal.com/us/smarthelp/article/what-are-the-ip-addresses-for-live-paypal-servers-ts1056

    Best regards,
    Christopher
