Invited spam (invited not invites)

  • plug in works really well, but I’ve now replace 3 installations with contact form 7. Problem is, they wpforms, is being paid by advertisers for their list and so we installed on these sites and the clients started all getting the exact same spam. To stop it, we went back to contact form 7 and cf7 formatting, so much for thinking we might have found an upgrade. Contact form 7 Plus cf7, neither of those ever caused us this much trouble with spam.

    Also, I do not like the weekly message “look how many forms submissions you’ve received, since they are all spam they invited, it sucks and reminds you that it sucks.

    We’re glad to hear the plugin works very well and if you’re facing spam issues we have several free options that you can combine in your form to improve and avoid spam:

    First, we have a built-in anti-spam protection feature which is enabled by default. This does not require any additional setup. When enabled in the form, it works in the background to protect your forms against spam. For more details about the anti-spam protection feature, please see our tutorial here.

    Additionally, we have other spam prevention options in WPForms:

    1. Google’s free reCAPTCHA service: This is a very popular option with built-in integration. Our integration includes 3 versions you can choose between: a traditional checkbox, “invisible”, and v3. You can find details on all of these in our tutorial.
    2. hCaptcha: This is a good option if you’d prefer not to sign up for Google’s reCAPTCHA service. Within your forms, hCaptcha will display a checkbox asking users to prove they’re human (much like Google’s v2 Checkbox reCAPTCHA). We have a detailed guide for setting up hCaptcha here.
    3. CloudFlare Turnstile: If you are interested in a privacy focussed invisible alternative that automatically chooses non-intrusive browser challenges based on client behavior, this option is for you. Please take a look at the following detailed guide for more details.
    4. Akismet Anti-Spam Protection: Akismet is one of the top anti-spam protection plugins on www.ads-software.com. If you have this plugin set up on your site, you can easily integrate it into your forms. Please see this guide on how to set up Akismet and enable
      it to your forms.
