Trying to install on their shared hosting, and they say I can’t, I have to pay them for each site (up to £35 a year per site).

I can’t get details of the “Home directory of your server (required)” from the control panel.

Presumably, I have to create the (non) SSL directory first, which is easy??

It looks like a great plugin!

    Thanks
    Steve

If your hosting control panel has an option to install SSL, you will be able to use this plugin. If you have cPanel, the installation/renewal will be automated. You don’t need to pay anyone a single penny.

Your hosting control panel should have the information on ‘home directory’. If you can’t find it, please ask your hosting provider.

You don’t need to create the SSL directory. Just put the name of the directory as per your wish. The plugin will create it for you.

Please let me know the result.

    Hi,

for IONOS shared Hosting SSL-certs will be centralized on the Webshield. The IONOS ControlPanel “Security Solutions” gives you the possibility to setup SSL-certs for your domain. The number of included SSL-certs is related to your Webhosting tariff.

Thanks Speedy – I will give it a go!
Martin, I have lots of small websites, and at £35 a year each, that is a LOT of money!

    It says:
We could not write to the aifs-config.php file. Please copy the following content and paste it into this file: /homepages/28/d66119722/htdocs/Alliedprofessional/wp-content/plugins/auto-install-free-ssl/FreeSSLAuto/src/Admin/aifs-config.php

aifs-config.php is not visible in that folder.
    Help!

    Oh dear!

@stevepett aifs-config.php is created with that content (which you got there) if your web server has write permission to this directory: /homepages/28/d66119722/htdocs/Alliedprofessional/wp-content/plugins/auto-install-free-ssl/FreeSSLAuto/src/Admin

It seems that your web server has no write permission. That’s why the plugin can’t create aifs-config.php

Please create aifs-config.php manually in that directory and paste that content in it.

Please let me know if you need further help.

    Thanks.

@stevepett: that plugin would not work as expected. As stated in my first answer, in IONOS the SSL is terminating on another technical layer and even NOT on the Webserver.
But good news: as IONOS customer, you could buy SSL Unlimited. It costs € 10.
I would have a screenshot for you, but I could not add that in that discussion.
You send me a mail to [email protected] and I would send you the screenshot.

    Best,
    Martin
