    Hi,

thanks for your really great plugin!

    I′ve got two problems:
    1) Is it possible to display the add to homescreen banner of your plugin to iOS browsers like chrome or safari? I′ve tested my site and your site and there is no banner displayed. I′ve installed iOs 11.3 and pwa works generally.
    2) At android I cannot see any more any add to home screen banner on your page and on my page. I′ve added a pwa of my page yesterday successfully and deleted it again. Now I the banner doesn′t show up. I′m using lineageos on oneplus 2 at chrome. I′ve deleted all cache.

    Regards,

  • Thanks for the great words.

The Add to Home screen prompt is not available right now on iOS devices as Apple just started supporting PWA from the version 11.3. Most probably we can expect an inbuilt prompt like on Android devices on coming versions of iOS.

Upon Android the Add to Homescreen prompt will only occur once, until the cache get cleared on Browser. Here’s the steps to easily troubleshoot:

    1) Can you please let me know whether you have installed the PWA earlier for the same website on your device? If yes, please uninstall and clear the cache. You can easily check this by tapping the browser menu (the three dots at the right corner of your Chrome Browser), if its added earlier you can see “Open _____” there, otherwise it will be “Add to HomeScreen“.

    2) Can you please let me know whether you have cleared the browsing data on browser?
Here’s the steps to clear the browsing data by tapping the browser menu on Google Chrome for Android > Settings > Privacy > Clear browsing data > Select Advanced tab > from that select options like Browsing history, Cookies and site data, Cached images and files, Site settings and tap Clear Data.

    3) Can you check any other PWA website’s (you can check our website superpwa.com) and let me know whether the Add to Home screen prompt occurs or not on your browser? If not, its because of the low memory storage limit within your device for browser. Free up some space and clear the cache to test it again.

Looking forward to hear your thoughts.

    Hi,

    thanks for your explanations.

1)iOS devices: but it could be possible to display a banner for iOS clients with a link to a short documentation how to do it? Would it be possible for you to implement a little media screen / javascript check for iOS devices and provide a little banner text / link field everytime a client visits my page via an iOS device? I think this would be great for a better iOS community support till apple has full pwa support.

    2) Android problems: I′ve had installed the pwa earlier, but removed it from my android by settings => apps => uninstall. Since this time the banner overlay of your plugin is gone on the same page. On other pages, which I′ven′t visited so far it works.

    3) Superpwa.com works again. Perhaps you could tune the banner a little bit: if the page is in another language than your browser language you get the translate banner first at chrome, which is overlapping the pwa button. Also the pwa banner shops up after I exited the language banner at chrome. Would it be possible for you to tune this?

    4) Is it possible to donate an amount for getting specific features developed for the community?

    5) Will it be possible to have more pages at offline pages than only one page?

We are right now waiting to see what iOS is going to come out with when they fully support PWA’s. If they have their own native prompt for PWA’s then adding a similar prompt would be pointless. Of course, if nothing comes up, we will be considering something around these lines in SuperPWA.

    2) Android problems: I′ve had installed the pwa earlier, but removed it from my android by settings => apps => uninstall. Since this time the banner overlay of your plugin is gone on the same page. On other pages, which I′ven′t visited so far it works.

I would like to update that the prompt which asking for Add to Homescreen is fully controlled by the browsers based upon some criteria’s for PWA. Our plugin is made to satisfy those criteria’s for showing the prompt and also for improving the performance of website.

Same as reply for 2) + If the user’s default language is other, the browser will show the prompt upon that language.

    4) Is it possible to donate an amount for getting specific features developed for the community?

We’re making more features for our plugin at our desk. Hopefully you can expect some this month and on coming months.

    5) Will it be possible to have more pages at offline pages than only one page?

Unfortunately, not right now. This feature is within our roadmap and you can expect this as an Add-on for our plugin on coming releases.
