• I just got a warning from WordFence that my site’s IP was blacklisted:

Your site IP address 18.217.161.112 is blacklisted by a spam filtering service.

The site is behind a load balancer at AWS, which means I have no way to control IP address (domain name A record is actually an alias which points to the load balancer’s address).

    Do I just ignore this?

    Thanks.

  • Hi @megunticook,

When Wordfence blocks the IP of the load balancer, it means that the setting How does Wordfence get IPs – is misconfigured.

    Can you try this:

    1. Go to Wordfence -> All Options -> How does Wordfence get IPs
    2. Cycle through the different options until Your IP with this setting: **** is your true IP address ( Your true IP is here: https://www.google.com/search?q=what+is+my+ip )
    3. Go to Wordfence -> Firewall -> Blocking, and remove the block for 18.217.161.112

Once you’ve done that, you should no longer receive reports that 18.216.161.112 is being blocked. Instead, the IP addresses of attackers should show up in the email report instead.

Thanks. My IP is not being blocked…WordFence is reporting that my website’s IP is blacklisted by a spam filtering service.

How do I address this? I believe the IP address assigned to the load balancer is dynamic, so changes over time.
