    Hi.

Where exactly does this plugin block the IP addresses from accessing the site? I’ve been having a large number of login attempts for a particular website, and when testing the lockout, I don’t appear to get locked out.

    Admin Screen Shot

As you can see, after the IP is blocked, login attempts continue…

If you need additional info, please let me know.

    Thanks.
    Howard

Hi! No worries, everything is OK.

    1. All blocked IP addresses are shown on the Lockout tab. They cannot log in.
    2. Even though a particular IP is currently blocked, that cannot stop a bot/person from making further attempts to log in. We just can’t say “hey dude stop doing that, you have blocked already.”
    3. Having a large number of login attempts is OK nowadays. Nobody is expecting to see tremendous attempts to break into a website until they install Cerber. ??

I do expect to see a large number of login attempts. I host more than 80 wordpress sites, and I usually use htaccess to block the wp-login.php but sites with woocommerce that need a user login are more challenging to keep out the repeated hits to the login pages and brute force. I’ll look at adding fail2ban onto the server and pushing from cerber to it. I saw it mentioned.

    Thanks.

Yes, you can use fail2ban, here are some explanations: https://wpcerber.com/how-to-protect-wordpress-with-fail2ban/
