IP Blocked For Photo Upload via Admin Panel?
-
apparently my IP is being blocked from my own site because I attempted to upload a picture via WordPress’ wp-admin panel. just a small 25kb image. I’ve been doing it this way for years. I am not sure why I am being banned, but upon re-activation I was sent this as a possible list of reasons:
“We have unblocked it for you, so you should again be able to access your domain and email services.
Here are the possible reasons that would cause an IP to be blocked:
1. Multiple invalid login attempts(more than 5 failures in 30 seconds)
2. Multiple FTP connections to the server (We have limit of 3 connections per IP)
3. Multiple email connections in a short period of timeFor blocking, it usually takes about 5 (cPanel) login failures from the same IP in a 300 second (5 minutes) time frame to get the IP blocked. In checking the server information this was the case with both of the blocked IP’s.
When an IP is blocked due to “courier”, this is usually indicative of either to many invalid login attempts to email, too many users from one location attempting to use email at the same time, or a mail client at the location being setup to check email too frequently. We recommend that you setup the mail client to retrieve/send messages in internals, more than 15 minutes between each attempt. For example, one account at 15 minutes, another at 20, third at 25, etc.”
I don’t understand how uploading a photo via WordPress could cause any of this. I guess I have to do the old-fashioned FTP route when uploading images from now on. sucks.
