I have had my www.ads-software.com account through bluehost for less than week now. I have worked on the site for only two days. First day I made the account and worked on the site all day, second day I had trouble logging in. I finally got into my account and worked on it then. I tried to log in last night (didn’t get the chance to input any username/pw info) and am locked out of my account. “Your IP (address) has been flagged for potential security violations.) I tried logging on from my laptop on my home network and I received the notification. I tried my partner’s laptop (connected to the same wifi), and got the same message. Waited out the evening and tried to log in at work… from my desktop computer and got the SAME notification… with the same IP address listed… I’m not sure what to do from here. My work has other computers I could use but we’re all on the same network. Would I be able to try to log on with my laptop at a different wifi location? like a coffee shop? How else can I log in and unblock my account? My phone doesn’t have personal hotspot set up yet…. What can I do! Is it worth it to go to the library (I work at a university) and try the computers there? Help, thank you! The page I see admins on the forum direct users to is (https://jetpack.com/support/security-features/#unblock) which actually does not provide any tools or tips helping with actually logging in (only how to whitelist the IP once you ARE in). PLEASE HELP!

    Hi there,

You should now be able to login again, and this issue shouldn’t repeat itself. Jetpack’s Protect function looks at the incoming IP address when you try to login, and compares it against our network of blocked IPs. This works pretty well, unless Jetpack’s Protect is being told the wrong IP address by your site’s server. In your case, your server was reporting its own IP address to Protect, which is why it was blocked. This meant that every single time someone with a WordPress site on your site’s server entered the wrong password, we thought it was the same person. If your hosting provider has several hundred WordPress sites on the same server/IP, that adds up fast, leading to a ban on the IP.

I’ve made a couple of changes on our side, and Jetpack’s Protect feature will now determine incoming IP addresses a different way. You’re still protected!

We also contacted your host about the problem and will help them get your server fixed.

    Hi,
I have the same issue with bluehost, I just got this message “Your IP (162.241.230.55) has been flagged for potential security violations. Find out more…” When I traceroute that ip it comes back as bluehost andI can’t fix it!

    Thank you.

I’m having a similar issue. When I try to go to the admin panel, I get the “your IP has been flagged for potential security violation” error message. However, the ip address that is showing up and being “blocked” is not my ip address. I don’t recognize it. Please help! Thanks!
