If a user is logged in, any URL link click opens two new windows (or tabs) to display the link. Very, very wierd. If no user is logged in, no problem, links open in the same window as the WP page (which, BTW, sucks).

To demonstrate, log in to your WP site as administrator, get a page that has a comment with a link in it, open that page and click on the link.

    Hi @punchlines,

Thank you for your reporting this issue. I think you’re using Open external links in a new window plugin which may conflict with this plugin.

If so, I respectfully ask you to check if the following can fix your problem:

The functionality of this plugin (e.g. opening a new window when you are logged-in and click the external link) is similar with that plugin but mainly for the security point of view. It suppresses HTTP_REFERER so as to keep your admin url (with queries) secret.

If you are interested in the reason, please refer to https://www.ipgeoblock.com/article/referer-suppressor.html

I appreciate your understanding and your kind cooperation.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

    Thanks for your quick response.

No, I’m not running any plugins like that. Sorry. Reminder: it only happens when a user is logged in. Otherwise, the link displays in the current window.

    I will try the .JS

    Thanks

Nope… sorry, but the same problem. Is there anything I can do to demonstrate?

    Regards,
    Punch

    Dear @punchlines,

I appreciate your testing. Actually, the same issue happens when I install “Open external links in a new window” plugin, so I implemented a countermeasure. But hum…

Please forgive me but I have to release a new version (e.g. 2.2.9.2) to avoid conflict with that plugin, while I investigate the cause of this issue.

Thanks a lot for your cooperation!

    Hi @punchlines,

I’ve not succeeded to find the cause yet but made a countermeasure to prevent duplicated event. So could you test again? You can download the updated code from the same links in my previous post.

    Thanks for your cooperation.

    That worked @tokkonopapa.

I’ll test again tomorrow to make sure.

    Thanks,

    Hi @punchlines,

Actually, the countermeasure which I implement is quite unusual. So I think something affects this plugin and a click event is duplicated. So I hope there’s no side effects. If you notice something, please let me know.

Anyway, thank you for your quick test and reporting!

    Hi Punch,

I hope your issue had already gone even in my new release 3.0.0.
If you have still an issue or something, please feel free to post a new thread.
    Thanks.
