• Hello,

yesterday I found in a backup of a WordPress site a ~3.8 MB SQL file ip2nation.sql.

    /wp-content/plugins/newstatpress/includes/includes/ip2nation.sql

It was in a includes directory within the plugins includes directory.

When I watched out for the file on the server it was disappeared. Also the second includes directory was disappeared.

Is this a try to hack the site? Or is it a regular temporary file of NewStatPress plugin?

    Thank You for helping.

  • This file was created on my server when I downloaded the IP2nation database (NewStatPress > Tools > IP2nation).

As long as this file is present in that directory, NewStatPress shows it as ‘Last version installed: 18/02/2015’ with an ‘Update’ button.
When I delete the sql file, it shows ‘Last version installed: none’ with the ‘Download’ button.

I’m not sure how this file is used, all I can tell is that it didn’t create the two tables mentioned in the SQL file in my WordPress database..

    Hi,

this is the official file that you can find here: https://www.ip2nation.com/

It creates the ip2nation tables popolated with IPs and nations.

If you open it with an editor you will see SQL instructions for creating the table and insert data in it.

It is downloaded when you click on Download ip2nation button and stay in include directory for givin information about the installed version.

    thanks

    Hi,

for this point we had decided to include the ip2nation sql directly into the plugin and manage to provides sql updates if ip2nation will changes.

The option still remain as now that one user will choose if use or not it.

It will be implemented in next versions.

    thanks
