Although I know this is not a WooCommerce issue, I didn’t know where else to post, at least others facing this issue could post here.

I have a WordPress & WooCommerce site on SiteGround GoGeek Plan. I have had since Nov 2017 and I have had IPN working since then, suddenly over the weekend it stopped working.

Suddenly IPN started failing. Looked into it as much as I could. Then did the following:

    1) Contacted PayPal Developer team via their portal who said it’s a 500 Error at the host side
    2) Created ticket at Siteground who mentioned lots of things including my WP having errors.
    3) Created a subdomain, Added Fresh WordPress & WooCommerce. Installed Storefront Theme. Tried the payment using a real card into my PayPal Account (Business). IPN fails again, the order just sits as Processing Payment.
    4) Copied my entire Live site & Database to a different Host (GoDaddy). IPN Works fine. Everything is the same as 2.
    5) Copied my entire Live Site & Database but this time to 1&1 and IPN again works fine.
    6) Added A fresh install of WP & WC & Storefront to my host (1&1) and IPN again went through fine.

This all points to a server side issue, throughout this course SiteGround keep asking for access to PayPal account and mentioning API access, however that is odd because API is not even set up in PayPal backend & why would the entire setup work at 1&1 and Godaddy.

Has anyone else faced this issue? I reported this on Sunday and now it’s Tuesday and still no progress has been made.

    Hi,

Actually it was SiteGround issue, I had to keep pressing them because it cannot be anything our side, since A) cannot access Server and B) same set up works elsewhere.

It was due to SiteGround blocking an IP address of PayPal.

But it took ages to get it solved, and no one want really read that the same issue cannot be replicated on different host. They kept requiring PayPal login which was a NO go.

In this scenario it was quite bad Customer Support, generally it is very good.
