    Hi,

Clicking on “Permanently block all locked out IP addresses” in the tab “IPs locked out from login” does Not work.

It’s been months and hoping it would add these to the 1st tab but WF red whirls around and does nothing.

Your assistance would be Greatly Appreciated! Thanks for such a Great Program!

    Thanks! ??

  • Hi,
Most probably there is a JavaScript error on this page causing this issue, a good way to check that is looking for such an error in the browser console.

Let me know how it goes,
    Thanks.

    Hi wfalaa,

Thanks for your reply! ?? I have checked and the Console tab shows 0-0-0. Looks like no errors.

Any other ideas? There are > 100 and many are going to be back (or already are) being over the 30 days.

It looks like the ones I personally go thru and block go to “IPs blocked from accessing the site” and clicking on permanently block works fine.

I believe it’s the ones WF auto blocks (which I’m very grateful for :D) don’t work.

Sorry, but I think you are being confused with “blocked” and “locked out” IPs, please check this option value for me: “Amount of time a user is locked out“.

Also, do you have any plugin that “minify JS” on your website? if so, try to deactivate it, also it could be any other plugin that’s causing this issue, it’s worth to try deactivating all other plugins -temporarily- and re-check this issue, a screenshot from the browser console after pressing this button would be helpful too.

Let me know how it goes,
    Thanks.

    Hi wfalaa,

No plugins have been added. It used to work fine last year.

    1) Clicking on “Permanently block all locked out IP addresses” brings up little red “Wordfence is working…” which goes around and around…and does nothing.

    2) It used to move them to “IPs blocked from accessing the site” with a red “permanently blocked”

    3) It seems to have stopped working when began WF auto blocking (in red: blocked: Blocked by WF Security Network) those annoying ppl.

    4) When we go thru “Scan” and click “Block” it works fine, their IP shows up in “IPs blocked from accessing the site” and we then click on “make permanent”.

    5) lock out after how many login failures: 5
Lock out after how many forgot pw attempts: 5
    Count failures…: 5 min
    Amt of time…: 60

    .

Normally, how many IPs you have in “IPs locked out from login” section that you are trying to move into “IPs blocked from accessing the site”?

Also, please check the server error log file after clicking on this button, the error log file path can be found at (Wordfence > Tools => Diagnostics => Log Files), or you can ask your hosting provider about that.

    Thanks.

    Hi Wfalaa,

I Reallly appreciate your assistance. ??

    1) ~ a few hundred

(Several times a wk, I do manually block ~ 50, even those WF does in red.)

    2) Of the 3 Files listed, they look similar.

    1a) the error_log (61.83kb)
It 1st lists 5 of these sets:
    Missing options param “loginSec_countFailMins”
    Missing options param “loginSec_lockoutMins”

Then several pgs of: WordPress database error … (mostly like the following)

1b)WordPress database error You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MariaDB server version for the right syntax to use near ‘LIKEwp_Easy_Calendar’ at line 1 for query SHOW TABLES LIKEwp_Easy_Calendar made by activate_plugin, do_action(‘activate_easy-calendar-wp/Easy_Calenar_wp.php’), call_user_func_array, Easy_calendar_wp_activate,

1c) and pages re mostly: WordPress database error Duplicate key name ‘tax_rate_country’ for query ALTER TABLE wp_woocommerce_tax_rates ADD KEY

WordPress database error Duplicate key name ‘location_type_code’ for query ALTER TABLE

    Does this help?

Since there are different errors from more than one plugin in the error log, I suggest disabling other plugins installed and re-check this issue.

Also, there is something you should now about, permanently blocking hundreds of IPs isn’t recommended at all, these IPs are dynamically assigned to different devices on the internet and blocking a bunch of them permanently will end up in blocking some legit IPs someday!

I have also another doubt that it could be a memory limitation issue that wasn’t reported in the error log, so it’s worth to try increasing the memory allocated to PHP in WordPress.

    Thanks.

    Hi Wfalaa,

You’re a Sweetie for taking the time to help me. ??

    1) Yes, it makes sense about blocking 100s but NONE of these are from here or will ever be a customer. It’s very obvious who they are by their countries. It’s a shame they have such a useless life that they sit around and bother people around the world.

Still weird how they even found my Inactive site.

    2) I will take your advice and ck out the memory issue AND will uninstall and re-install.

WF is a Great Plugin & gave it 5 STARS last year. I’ll buy it (or just send them $) when I Finally get Vol III done! Wish my pets could help out–esp the Kindness to Animals part.

    Have a Fun Day! ??
